Though Marcus is technically in his twelfth year as a high school English teacher, in his eyes his career really began when his own 5th grade teacher, Mrs. Walker, told the entire classroom that she could see him "becoming an English teacher — and maybe writing something, too." Not only did Mrs. Walker start him on an educational path that he's grateful for daily, but in doing so she also has been a constant, important reminder for Marcus of just how meaningful a teacher can be in the trajectory of a student. When he’s not chasing around his two toddlers and grading essays, Marcus enjoys sharing teaching strategies and discussing education policy for The Broken Copier, and also has written for Edutopia and Teacher2Teacher.
